Loomi Candle Bar announces planned closure

Posted online

Loomi Candle Bar, a do-it-yourself candle shop in downtown Springfield, is slated to close after the building housing it recently changed ownership.

The 400 W. Walnut St. store is scheduled to close at the end of April, according to a March 3 Facebook post.

The post indicates that "we have been asked to leave our location."

"When our building was purchased, we anticipated possible changes at lease renewal. What we did not expect was that we would not be given the option to renew," the post reads. "While we were provided the proper 90-day notice, it came as a surprise and caused us to reassess all of our options and future plans."

Owner Katie Putthoff declined a request for further comment.

David Pere, the CEO of financial advising company FMTM LLC, recently told Springfield Business Journal that he purchased the building in October 2025. His company, which stands for From Military to Millionaire, is going into the space now occupied by Loomi, he said.

On the Campbell Avenue side of Loomi, the new building owner this past weekend painted over a community tribute mural to Robert E. Smith, according to past reporting.
