Lockheed may shift F-35 fighter work away from Canada

With uncertainty looming about whether Canada will buy its F-35 fighter jet, Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) announced it might shift work away from the country.
 
According to Reuters, a Lockheed official said the weapons manufacturer was under pressure by other partner countries with firm purchase orders to move more work their way.
 
Canada’s defense ministry denied reports it is planning to buy F-18 model fighter jets from The Boeing Co. instead of Lockheed’s next-generation model.
 
About 130 Canadian companies do about $1 billion worth of work on the jet, which has a program budget of $379 billion.
