Locked Up for a Good Cause

Posted online
Volunteer Corie Mitchell of Mitchell Drywall works the phones Aug. 26 to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Association during its annual Lock-Up at Bass Pro Shops. Mitchell was among 465 people who called on friends, family and colleagues to make bail; volunteers gave one-hour of their time or $500 bail through donor contributions.

Above right, Patty Briggs, life enrichment coordinator at Creekside at Elfindale, is booked by “Barney Fife,” better known as Branson entertainer Terry Wayne Sanders.

The event raised $149,500 for MDA’s Greater Ozarks Area Chapter, which is down slightly from last year. “With gas prices and everything, it was expected,” said Kelly Harter, administrative assistant of MDA’s Ozarks chapter. “We’re grateful for everyone’s support.”[[In-content Ad]]
