Posted online
Drury, Missouri State and Evangel universities and College of the Ozarks are being recognized on the 2012 U.S. News Best Colleges list.

Drury ranked No. 10 on the list of best regional universities in the Midwest, marking schools that offer a large range of undergraduate programs, some master's programs and few doctoral programs, according to the Best Colleges Web site.

Drury was one of two Missouri colleges to make the Top 10, behind Truman State University at No. 8.

“This ranking is a validation of the hard work Drury’s faculty and staff have engaged in,” said Charles Taylor, Drury vice president of academic affairs, in a news release.

MSU ranked No. 58 on the same list.

College of the Ozarks gained the No. 12 position on the list of best regional colleges in the Midwest, defined as schools with a focus on undergraduate education but with fewer than half of the degrees granted in liberal arts disciplines.

This year, College of the Ozarks also has been a part of the ranks of lists published by Washington Monthly, Forbes and The Princeton Review.

Evangel ranked No. 58 on the U.S. News regional colleges list, but no Missouri college made the Top 10.

No local schools made the list of top national universities, which, according to U.S. News, offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master's and doctoral degrees, and are committed to research. However, Washington University in St. Louis ranked No. 14, St. Louis University and University of Missouri tied with a rank of No. 90, Maryville University of St. Louis ranked No. 157 and University of Missouri-Kansas City ranked No. 181 nationally.[[In-content Ad]]
