Local restaurateurs to compete on Travel Channel show

Posted online
A team of Springfield restaurateurs are scheduled to appear this month on the Travel Channel’s new reality show, “Grill of Victory.”

David Campbell, who founded barbecue chain Buckingham’s in 1996, will be joined by his brother, Darryl, Cameron Roy, the owner of several Buckingham’s restaurants, and local chef James Clary for a team dubbed Buckingham's Pig Kings. They’ll compete against Engine 51 Smokers and Twisted Belly, according to a news release.

Hosted by Kevin Roberts, aka The Food Dude, the Travel Channel’s show is scheduled to air at 1 p.m. May 23.

On the show, three Missouri teams will have six hours to cook barbecue dishes for the chance to win a $10,000 prize, according to the release.

Buckingham's Pig Kings created a grand piano-themed smoker for the show, which will be on display at the Ozark restaurant noon-3 p.m. the day of the show.

While the show - produced by New York-based Jane Street Entertainment - was filmed largely in St. Louis, the production team visited Springfield to shoot footage of the team building its rig as well as local landmarks, such as Bass Pro Shops, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
