Local health care leaders appointed to state committee

Posted online
Several local health care professionals are among those recently appointed by Gov. Matt Blunt to serve on the state’s Comprehensive Entry Point System for Long Term Care committee.

The committee is part of the MO HealthNet Oversight committee. It will make recommendations to the health and senior services and social services departments on simplifying access to information about long-term care services and providing tools to help people plan for their long-term care needs.

Chaired by Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, the committee will submit a report to the governor and General Assembly with a plan for a comprehensive entry point system by Oct. 1.

Local faces on the committee include Dorothy Knowles, of Buffalo, executive director of the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging; Melanie Markham, of Ozark, owner and CEO of Access Home Health Agency Inc.; Philip Melugin, of Springfield, president and owner of Integrity Home Care; and Jo Walker, of Marshfield, retired regional manager of St. John’s PremierPlus.

There are 11 members total, plus Kinder.

All appointments are for a term ending at the governor’s pleasure.
