Three trucks filled with ice, water, food and other relief supplies from Springfield’s Convoy of Hope arrived in Natchez, La., Monday afternoon. Volunteers are waiting for government officials to determine the best point of distribution.
Convoy has committed to sending 27 loads of supplies to the southeast. Businesses can sponsor a load and its shipping costs. Cash donations can be made at the faith-based organization’s Web site or by calling (417) 823-8998.
The Greater Ozarks Chapter of American Red Cross has deployed 23 of its 125 locally trained volunteers, and seven more remain on standby.
New volunteers will not be deployed, but they can receive training at the next orientation, 2 p.m. Sept. 6. Volunteers are deployed for three- or six-week periods.

Nixa-based Compassion Alliance has sent emergency personnel and truckloads of supplies to its Ocala, Fla., center.
Distribution sites are being set up to provide water, food, ice and other relief supplies to the hardest-hit areas.

The alliance is a faith-based nonprofit organization created to aid victims of natural disasters.
