Local game maker Caleb Stokes is no stranger to successful crowdfunding campaigns.
His latest, which ended today, brought in double its goal with $20,812 from 726 backers. The Kickstarter campaign for Fae's Anatomy: A Melodramatic Medical Mystery RPG started last month.
Fae’s Anatomy is a tabletop role-playing game in which players work together to solve fantastical medical mysteries, such as snakes growing out of a patient's face. It's expected to be ready for release in about a year, according to the Kickstarter page.
"I really can't express the gratitude I feel for all of you backers who helped bring this game into the world," Stokes told backers after the campaign ended.
The founder and owner of indie RPG publishing company Hebanon Games, Stokes' most recent Kickstarter for Party Fowl: The Game of Drunk Ducks brought in $17,687 — ahead of a $14,000 goal — via 430 backers. That project was in partnership with Spencer Harris, now president of digital agency Mostly Serious LLC.
His largest campaign, called Red Markets: A Game of Economic Horror, was funded for $72,248 with 1,448 backers. Another, "No Security: Horror Scenarios in the Great Depression," brought in $6,805 via 250 backers.
