Local fundraising professionals to be honored

Posted online
The Association of Fundraising Professionals will hand out awards to area professionals and businesses Nov. 21 at the annual Philanthropy Day Celebration at Highland Springs Country Club.

The local AFP chapter, which has about 85 members, will recognize honorees for going the extra mile for their respective organizations at a time when the ailing economy has presented additional fundraising challenges, according to an AFP news release.

This year's honorees include:

• Nancy Brown Dornan, Outstanding Philanthropist;

• Norb and Ann Bagley, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers;

• Josh Snowden and Andrew Keaster, Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy;

• Midwest Family Broadcast Group, Outstanding Media Organization;

• American Detection Specialists Inc., Outstanding Small Business;

• Ozarks Food Harvest, Outstanding Philanthropic Organization;

• Chase USA, Outstanding Corporation; and

• Ozarks Food Harvest Executive Director Bart Brown, Outstanding Fundraising Executive.

"By recognizing these individuals, organizations and businesses, we are letting the community know of the great value there is in philanthropy and the people in this community that it serves," said Philanthropy Day co-chair Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation, in the release.

The Philanthropy Day Celebration awards ceremony will follow a noon luncheon. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased by sending a check to AFP, Ozarks Region, PO Box 10572, Springfield, MO 65808.

Founded in 1960, AFP has more than 30,000 members in 200 chapters throughout the world, according to its Web site, www.afpnet.org. The local chapter's Web site is www.afpozarks.org. AFP works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs.[[In-content Ad]]
