Local colleges in the running for $100K in security funding

Posted online
A group of local colleges were named finalists for up to $100,000 in security funding.

Drury, Evangel and Southwest Baptist universities, as well as the Mercy College of Nursing & Health Sciences of SBU, are in the running for Stanley Security’s Together for Safer Schools grant program.

According to a news release from the Mercy college of SBU in Springfield, the top prize comes with an award of Stanley Security-installed products and services to increase safety on college campuses.

“Being a recipient of the Stanley Security grant would greatly enhance the security at the Mercy College of Nursing & Health Sciences,” said Bob McGlasson, associate provost and vice president for operations, in the release. “We are experiencing tremendous growth and our facilities are in use day and night.

“Enhancing our security not only keeps the students, faculty and staff safe but also provides opportunities for extended use of the building to greater serve our educational needs.”

The winners of the contest, to be announced March 3, will be decided based on public voting at StanleySaferSchools.com. One runner-up would receive $25,000 in services. The local schools are not currently on the leaderboard.[[In-content Ad]]
