Doty, 40, collided with a passenger car at National Avenue and Lakewood Street Saturday afternoon and was taken to CoxSouth, where he later died, according to a news release from the Springfield Police Department.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, 81-year-old Shirley Lovell of Springfield, was not injured. The impact occurred as Lovell made a left turn at Lakewood. Police are investigating excessive speed on Doty’s part as a contributing factor to the crash.
A representative from the agency said it will remain in business and all of Doty’s clients will be divided among other agents. The agency will be closed Tuesday for employees to attend funeral services.
Doty is survived by his wife of 10 years, Mandy.
Visitation will be 6:30–8 tonight in Rivermonte Chapel at Thieme-Shadel Hicks Funeral Service, 4500 S. Lone Pine. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception, 3555 S. Fremont, under the direction of Thieme-Shadel Hicks.
