Local brewing company seeks investors

Posted online

Springfield-based 4 by 4 Brewing Co. LLC is on the verge of starting a crowdfunding opportunity for potential investors.

The company announced the plan in a Facebook post this morning, as well as via email.

“We’re looking to expand our brand as a craft beverage company instead of simply a craft brewery,” officials said in the email. “We are constantly looking to evolve with the industry, stay relevant and serve our community. We’ve already started this by offering a wider variety of drink options from (nonalcoholic) options to expanding what kinds of alcoholic beverages we offer.”

The company said it also is looking to “craft spaces that better serve our community and become a place where people come for entertainment, events and experiences. However, all of this comes at a cost and that's where we’re looking for potential investors from within our own community.”

4 by 4 Brewing said it is exploring a StartEngine crowdfunding campaign, noting it is in the reservation stage for potential investors. Company officials were unavailable for additional comment prior to deadline.

“4 By 4 Brewing has always been about more than beer. It’s about people, community and shared memories,” the company said in the Facebook post.

The company points potential investors to a StartEngine page, noting as 4 by 4 “has scalable production capacity and a proven taproom model, we aim to grow into new markets while deepening our existing local roots.” It further notes on the website that 4 by 4 increased distribution 17% year over year in 2024 and only has 20% of brewing capacity utilized.

The company operates locations in Springfield and Nixa. Its first location opened in Galloway Village in 2017, followed by its Nixa brewery in 2023 at 9903 Sawgrass Ave., adjacent to Fremont Hills Country Club.

4 by 4 Brewing ranked No. 3 on Springfield Business Journal’s list in 2024 of the area’s largest breweries. The company reported 2,200 barrels produced in 2023, a 22% increase from 2022. Mother’s Brewing Co. topped the list, producing 8,053 barrels.
