Local attorney named Missouri Bar president

Springfield attorney C. Ronald Baird was elected president of The Missouri Bar, a statewide association that boasts about 28,000 members.

The election was held Sept. 27 at the bar’s 127th annual meeting in St. Louis. Baird, who previously was president-elect for the bar, succeeds Douglas A. Copeland of Clayton.

Baird is a shareholder in the firm Baird, Lightner, Millsap & Harpool PC and a graduate of the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Law. He has been a member of the bar’s board of governors since 1996.

Baird will serve as president for the 2006-07 term.

Other newly elected members to the bar’s executive committee are: Charlie J. Harris Jr. of Kansas City, Thomas M. Burke of St. Louis, Mark H. Levison of St. Louis, Matthew M. Mocherman of Cape Girardeau, and H.A. Walther of Columbia.
