Liz Cheney removed from House leadership

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyoming, was removed from her leadership role in the Republican caucus of the House of Representatives.

Cheney’s ouster was expected as she was criticized by other Republicans for blaming former President Donald Trump for the insurrection at the Capitol and for denying voter fraud in the election last year.

“Today we face a threat America has never seen before,” she said in a speech to the House. “A former president who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol, in an effort to steal the election, has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him.”
