Lindsay’s Kitchen to exit 14 Mill Market

Posted online

A bakery that was part of 14 Mill Market’s debut lineup in June 2023 is set to make its exit from the Nixa food hall next month.

Feb. 22 is the scheduled final day of operation at 14 Mill Market for Lindsay’s Kitchen LLC, said owner Lindsay Kirtlan. The bakery, which includes cinnamon rolls, bagels, doughnuts, quiche, scones and cookies among its menu offerings, is returning to its home-based roots, she said.

Kirtlan started the business out of her kitchen in 2021 and was a weekly vendor at Farmers Market of the Ozarks, where she sold cinnamon rolls, as well as mixes for brownies, muffins and pancakes, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

“I wanted to get back to the heart of why we started,” Kirtlan said of creating her in-house mixes and baked goods. “That’s helping moms like myself who are just so busy that they are finding they have to compromise quality in order to have the quality time.

“That’s why we decided to take a step back. 14 Mill has been very supportive and understanding of all that.”

Leah Callahan, who co-owns 14 Mill Market with her husband, Rich, said they already have another vendor set to take over Lindsay’s Kitchen space in March. Chef Leo Kim, who launched The Gochu Handcrafted Korean BBQ Bowl, at the food hall in January 2024, will have a new concept debuting, dubbed Chantilly. She said Chantilly will be a dessert-focused venture that also will serve coffee and tea. The Gochu also will remain open at the food hall.

As for Kirtlan, Callahan said she and Rich are excited for the next chapter at Lindsay’s Kitchen.

“She’s a mom of four and that is so hard in operating a restaurant space,” Callahan said via email. “Her new direction will allow her more flexibility and time for her family while streamlining her focus on what she’s most passionate about – teaching moms how to bake with clean ingredients.”

Aside from her home kitchen work, Kirtlan said she’ll also be returning to Farmers Market of the Ozarks in March.

“With the new season, we are really excited about stepping back into that,” she said, noting beyond mixes, she’ll be selling made-from-scratch coffee syrups, such as vanilla, hazelnut and coconut, along with various food seasonings.

Kirtlan also is looking to teach baking classes, adding she’s in discussions with Ozark food pantry Least of These Inc., among other possible class locations.

“I’m really grateful for the friendships that we’ve developed, especially with the other vendors,” she said of her time at 14 Mill Market. “I’ve gotten to do life with some people that I don’t think that I would have ever had the opportunity to do life with. So, it’s been great.”
