License plate redesigns on display in Springfield today

Posted online
The public is invited to view the three options for Missouri’s new license plate design, which are on display today at the Troop D Missouri State Highway Patrol Headquarters until 1 p.m.

The state advisory committee responsible for selecting the next standard license plate is in Springfield today at the patrol’s local headquarters, 3131 E. Kearney St.

In addition to viewing the proposed plates in person, the public may view them online and vote for their favorite at dory.dor.mo.gov/dor/voteplate. Online voting will go through March 5.

Missouri’s current license plates debuted in 1996. The committee was created after a law was passed in 2004 requiring a plate design.

Three designs have been selected that the committee says increase visibility of the plate and reduce the likelihood of tab theft.

The new plate will be issued by Jan. 1, 2009.[[In-content Ad]]
