Library district to receive $15K state grant

Posted online
The Springfield-Greene County Library District is getting state money to improve its early literacy program.

The district will receive $14,879 from the Missouri State Library Excellence in Library Service Grant program. The money will be used to purchase seven early literacy systems from Advanced Workstations in Education Inc. Two will go to the Midtown Carnegie branch, two to the Brentwood branch and three to the Library Center.

The grant is funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal funding for the nation's libraries and museums.

The state library system has approved 130 grant applications this fiscal year, distributing more than $1.1 million in federal grant awards.[[In-content Ad]]
