The merger of Liberty Hospital and the University of Kansas Health System has been finalized, according to a Monday announcement.
Liberty Hospital, located in the suburbs of Kansas City, began looking for a health care partner in 2023. It announced the merger with the University of Kansas last October.
The deal faced resistance from both Kansas and Missouri lawmakers.
