Springfield-based Liberty Bank is the leading producer of U.S. Small Business Administration loans for the third consecutive year, according to a Liberty Bank news release.
Liberty Bank was responsible for underwriting more than $5.9 million in SBA loans, which accounts for more than 10 percent of all SBA loans in southwest Missouri for fiscal year 2001.
Liberty Bank has preferred lender status with SBA, which permits the bank to handle the loan underwriting that commits the SBA to the loan. Preferred status is beneficial to the small-business owners seeking loans, because allowing the bank to handle the underwriting expedites the process.
"Liberty Bank's continuing dedication to helping small businesses grow is a significant boost to the local economy, especially in this economic climate," said James R. Combs, branch manager of the SBA's Springfield branch. "They were the top-producing lender again this year because their staff is experienced and very knowledgeable on the SBA loan programs."
Liberty Bank President Gary Metzger said commitment to rapid response time is a top management priority. Metzger insists that all Liberty Bank loan officers stay current on SBA loan rules and regulations, which change often and can be complicated. And it's the loan officers Metzger credits with earning the top spot among SBA lenders for three years in a row.
"Their knowledge, dedication and desire to help small and medium-size businesses grow makes all the difference in our success and the success of our business partners," Metzger said.
In addition to its main location at 1414 E. Primrose, Liberty Bank has locations in Ozark, Marshfield, Mt. Vernon, Greenfield, Stockton and El Dorado Springs.
