Ashcroft cartoon disturbs reader
As per my phone conversation today with Clarissa French, I am sending this letter to express my extreme displeasure with your cartoon on the Opinion page depicting the Constitution being a door mat for Ashcroft's office (SBJ issue of Dec. 10-16, 2001).
This country is at war. If this attitude was in place during World War II, we could all be speaking German today. There is no reason that we should not be allowed to protect ourselves and our way of life. I would expect something like this from the ACLU, not the Springfield Business Journal.
Anyone with this attitude ought to ask themselves just how far they would get with someone like the Taliban in control, perhaps you would rethink your position. If this is your attitude perhaps we should rethink our position as a subscriber to your paper.
