Toymaker Lego announced it would invest more than $1 billion in its first U.S. factory.
The carbon-neutral factory in Chesterfield County, Virginia, will be the Danish company's second in North America. It's slated to be the company's seventh factory worldwide.
"Our factories are located close to our biggest markets, which shortens the distance our products have to travel," Chief Operations Officer Carsten Rasmussen said. "This allows us to rapidly respond to changing consumer demand and helps manage our carbon footprint."
