A special legislative committee has recommended the removal of St. Louis' 1% earnings tax.
The committee, led by state Rep. Jim Murphy, R-south St. Louis County, made the recommendations in an effort to boost economic growth.
The committee's report found the removal of the tax would relieve pressure on low-income workers and new residents of the city.
