Per-share earnings were up 58 percent from the 26 cents earned during the third quarter of 2003.
In a company statement, Chairman and CEO Felix Wright said “In part, this (growth) was due to increased sales in all five segments, each benefiting from a combination of unit growth, inflation and/or acquisitions.”
Other financial figures of note from the third quarter:
Quarterly sales hit an all-time record of $1.34 billion, up $181 million, or 16 percent, from the third quarter of 2003.
Organic sales were up 13 percent for the quarter and 11 percent over the last 12 months.
Leggett & Platt conceives, designs and produces a broad variety of engineered components and products for homes, offices, retail stores and automobiles. The firm, founded in 1883, comprises 29 business units, 33,000 employee-partners, and more than 300 facilities in more than 20 countries. The company manufactures components for residential furniture and bedding, retail store fixtures, components for office furniture, and other home and office products.
