SMSU Student Union
Designed by Mike Harned, AIA, and Alan Bates, AIA, this project, for Southwest Missouri State University, will be complete by November 1999. Butler/Bates is a joint venture of Butler, Rosenbury & Partners and Warren Bates and Associates. Planning for this project, an addition and complete renovation of the Student Union at SMSU, began almost five years ago. The goals of the project are to take better advantage of the building's excellent location, make the building more accessible and legible, and to make the best use of space and material for the budget. The $10.2 million project involves 140,000 square feet.
Why is this project your legacy? The University Student Union is going to be an institution keystone for SMSU. It will be the central focus of campus life and will be an important part of every student's experience. It will be long remembered by the students and the community members who use it.
