Springfield, MO
333 Building, 333 S. Jefferson
Designed by Daniel E. Scott, AIA, MBA, for owner Jericho Development Co., this project was completed in February 1999. It is a two-story contemporary interpretation of a historic downtown streetscape constructed of red brick and accented with gray marble and a curved-metal eyebrow roof.
Why is this project your legacy? This project illustrates the highest level of perseverance and civic commitment in recent building history. Originally slated as a minor renovation, the original structure met a tragic end during a fire in December 1997 followed by wind damage in March 1998. Recognizing the project as a key for downtown revitalization, the owners, including designer Scott, set out, against the advice of advisers to rebuild a structure that the owners and the entire community could be proud of. The result is a beautiful complement to the center city landscape that should remain a viable design for decades to come.
