Legacies in Architecture

Commerce Bank, Battlefield Banking Center, 1345 E. Battlefield

Designed by Craig Schneider, AIA, CSI, the Battlefield Banking Center is a three-story, 40,000-square-foot structure that offers strength and stability with the use of massive masonry block columns. Constructed of fluted masonry block and dark gray glass over steel framing, the structure is connected to the existing branch bank and is located between the branch facility and the drive-in facility.

Why is this project your legacy? The design of this structure is often complimented and has been toured by board members and officials of many financial institutions as they contemplate designs and layouts for their own facilities. A legacy in more ways than one, this project was the culmination of a client/architect relationship that began nearly a quarter of a century ago when the late A.C. "Deac" Esterly designed minor renovations to the elevations of the Commerce Branch Bank in Bolivar. Esterly, Schneider is currently in the design development phase of another new Commerce branch at Kansas Expressway and Talmage Street.
