Chateau on the Lake, Branson
Designed by Pellham-Phillips-Hagerman for owner John Q. Hammons, the Chateau was completed in fall 1997. The 10-story, 302-room hotel and convention center was designed to look like a European castle and was built to compete with other nationally known resorts. The 10-story atrium features a waterfall flowing into a stream that winds its way through the open atrium, and a 35-seat theater is available on the lower level. The Chateau's 40,000 square-foot Great Hall can accommodate up to 4,000 people. This room can be customized to handle several separate groups via built-in dividers. It features 22 magnificent chandeliers measuring 9 feet across.
Why is this project your legacy? As one of the finest resorts in the United States, it represents the best of John Q. Hammons Hotels and PPH's close relationship with Mr. Hammons through the years. Twenty-five feet of hill had to be blown off to accommodate the major state-of-the-art resort facility in this rural, pristine setting. Providing utilities to the construction site was also challenging. The challenges overcome in the design of the luxury resort, along with the ability to do it right, without budget constraints, makes this a grand legacy for PPH.
