Leaky Roof owner puts meadery up for sale

A 9-year-old meadery in Buffalo has been listed on the market.

Leaky Roof Meadery LLC owner David Rock hired Jerry Myers of VR Business Sales to handle the sales process for the 1306 Azalea St. company, according to a VR news release. The real estate also has been listed through Professional Real Estate LLC, VR Business Sales' sister company.

"Rock says he has enjoyed owning the business, but with the recent passing of his wife, who served as bookkeeper, he now wants to turn his attention to retirement," the release reads.

Rock founded Leaky Roof Meadery with his son, master brewer Todd Rock, in 2014, according to the release.

Leaky Roof makes mead, a honey-based alcohol, and also brews beer through Blue Mound Brewing Co. The listing indicates the meadery and brewery are for sale.

The listing has an asking price of $175,000 for the business assets and $360,000 for the 6,400-square-foot building.

The name of the business pays homage to the Leaky Roof Railway, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
