Lawsuit: Ed Sheeran copied R&B classic ‘Let’s Get It On’

The family of Ed Townsend is suing Ed Sheeran for copyright infringement in the British singer-songwriter’s “Thinking Out Loud.”
 
The suit alleges Sheeran copied Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” – co-written with Townsend – and that he has continued to perform “Thinking Out Loud” after being notified of the infringement.
 
The suit also name Sheeran’s co-writer on the song, his producer, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Atlantic Records and Warner Bros.
