Lawmakers to investigate Nixon's Ferguson decisions

Posted online
Missouri lawmakers today will hold the first committee hearing investigating Gov. Jay Nixon's decisions following the August shooting death of a black teenager by a white police officer in Ferguson.

The governor has faced criticism for his decisions, including not to appoint a special prosecutor and the timing of his deployment of the Missouri National Guard, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The hearings are a result of Nixon's decision to call a special session to appropriate emergy funding for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and National Guard in Ferguson. He later said he didn't need a special session to fund those entities.
