U.S. lawmakers yesterday introduced a bipartisan bill that would provide roughly $23 billion in aid for the American semiconductor industry.
The funding would help spur the development of chip factories in the United States amid a technology rivalry with China.
The proposal includes a 40% refundable income tax credit for semiconductor equipment.
