As Overland Park, Kan.-based Lawing Financial battles with former financial adviser Nadia Cavner in court, its Springfield branch manager has left the firm.
David Compere started working this month at UMB Bank as a senior vice president and financial adviser, according to his
LinkedIn page. Compere, who could not be reached for comment this morning by deadline, worked at Lawing Financial for seven years.
An anonymous tip sent to Springfield Business Journal stated Compere could no longer work under Lawing Financial CEO Kerry Lawing “due to a concern of ethics and business practices, particularly related to the recent lawsuit.” The tip also indicated Compere started at UMB Sept. 14.
In April, Lawing Financial sued Cavner claiming breach of contract in its January 2014 purchase of the Cavner Group. Four months later, Cavner countersued, alleging Lawing Financial defamed her in the media to avoid payments owed for the purchase, according to
SBJ archives.
Lawing Financial spokesman Alex Greenwood also could not be reached for comment by deadline.
