A managing partner with the Springfield office of Franke Schultz & Mullen PC has been appointed to a recently vacated municipal court judge seat.
Becky Borthwick joins the city July 1, according to a news release. She succeeds Dennis Budd, who
retired May 31 after a 31-year career with the city, first as a contract attorney and later named a municipal court judge in 1994.
Given formal approval by City Council during its June 3 meeting, Borthwick's term expires June 30, 2017.
“I'm looking forward to serving the people of Springfield, and I will strive to continue the court's commitment to provide prompt, fair and courteous treatment,” she said in the release.
In her career, Borthwick has had experience in condemnation cases, tort actions, construction defect and title insurance defense, according to her
online profile for Franke Schultz & Mullen.
Borthwick, who earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, is a member of the bar associations for Missouri, Louisiana, Nebraska and Oklahoma, as well as the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
