Lathrop lawyer: One day, two Supreme Court wins

It was a good day to be Chad Bloomberg. The Kansas City-based Lathrop & Gage LLP lawyer won not one, but two Missouri Supreme Court cases in the same day.

Lead attorney in both cases – one involving a client injured whileriding the Hurricane Falls raft at Oceans of Fun and the other an issue in which a trial court did not award post-judgment interest as required by statute – Bloomberg said he didn’t argue the cases before the court, but helped shape the arguments.

"As a young lawyer who's excited to see whether or not he was going to get a ruling in his first two Supreme Court cases, I was watching those hand-down dates every time," Bloomberg told the Kansas City Business Journal. "One was a little delayed when it came down, and then when they both came down it was kind of a double surprise."
