Largest power cooperative in Texas files for bankruptcy

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc., the largest and oldest electric power cooperative in Texas, filed for bankruptcy.

Company officials cited a disputed $1.8 billion bill from the state's grid operator that came about due to the severe cold snap last month.

Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the state's grid operator, on Friday announced $2.1 billion in initial bills went unpaid.
