Southwest Airlines announced Tuesday it would begin twice-daily nonstop flights between Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and Little Rock, Ark.

The service, scheduled to begin Jan. 6, 2016, will depart Lambert at 10:25 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Return flights from Little Rock will arrive in St. Louis at 7:40 a.m. and 6:35 p.m.

Three new nonstop destinations launched from Lambert this week: Southwest Airline’s service to Austin, Texas; Air Choice One’s service to Jackson, Tenn.; and Alaska Airline’s service from St. Louis to Portland. Including the additions, Lambert has 253 daily flights to 63 destinations.

Lambert officials said the airport has seen total passenger growth of 2.4 percent between January and May this year, compared with the same time last year. In May, total passenger traffic increased 2.6 percent from the previous month.
