The city of Lamar will use a $133,000 state grant to demolish dilapidated commercial buildings on its downtown square.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development funds will help bring down four buildings that have been vacant at least 10 years, according to the Joplin Globe. The buildings are joined and share a roof, which has collapsed in parts.
The demo project is awaiting an architectural historian’s review of the site, and city officials expect it will be at least four months before the wrecking work begins.
