La-Z-Boy announced it would close a 60-year-old plant in Newton, Mississippi, and slash 850 jobs to cut costs amid the slowing U.S. economy.
The Mississippi plant's production will be shifted to factories in Neosho; Dayton, Tennessee; and Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
The company that makes La-Z-Boy chairs and furniture is laying off roughly 10% of its workforce.
