Omaha, Nebraska-based Kutak Rock LLP has two new partners at its Springfield office.

James Meadows and Joseph Reid were promoted Jan. 1, according to a news release.

“Our new partners have shown they are deeply committed to serving our clients, evidenced by their strategic navigation of the ongoing challenges and opportunities brought about by the second year of the pandemic,” said Jay Selanders, chair of Kutak Rock, in the release.

Meadows and Reid were among the initial slate of employees that helped form Kutak Rock's Springfield office in 2018, according to past reporting. That year, they were among six law firm partners who left Lathrop Gage LLP for Kutak Rock. The move prompted Kansas City-based Lathrop Gage to close its local office after 20 years operating in Springfield.

With the addition of Meadows and Reid, Kutak Rock's Springfield office has six partners, said Senior Communications Manager Leigh Ann Kosmas. Operating from the John Q. Hammons Building, 300 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, the firm locally employs 11 attorneys and 18 total staff members, she added.

Meadows focuses his practice on contract disputes, real estate claims, insurance coverage actions and other cases, according to the release. An attorney with more than 26 years of civil litigation experience, Reid represents businesses and individuals.

Kutak Rock has 19 offices in 14 states and Washington, D.C. Firmwide, the company has more than 550 attorneys.
