Kum & Go store opens today with new design concept

Posted online
West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go LC today opened its newest Springfield-area store under its Marketplace design.

The roughly $1.2 million, 6,200-square-foot convenience store replaces an older, smaller store two blocks south at 2808 S. Campbell Ave.

Marketplace stores emphasize made-to-order foods, such as sandwiches and pastries, and offer complimentary Wi-Fi, device charging stations, and indoor and heated outdoor seating areas.

“This is the evolution of our brand promise and business approach,” Kum & Go President and CEO Kyle Krause said in a news release.

Johnston, Iowa-based Henning Construction Co. LLC served as general contractor for the project designed by Merriam, Kan.-based BRR Architecture Inc.

The opening comes three months after Kum & Go launched its first store in the market under the Marketplace concept. The store at 3049 E. U.S. Hwy. 60 in Republic opened March 31. Kum & Go is working on three other Marketplace stores in the Springfield area.
