Kum & Go raises $17K for Victory Mission

Posted online
Kum & Go presented a $17,606 check to Springfield Victory Mission this morning, according to a Victory Mission news release.

The funding was garnered through the annual Victory Mission Thanksgiving Turkeys Fundraiser conducted Nov. 1-24. The money was raised by 54 Kum & Go locations in the area.

The stores sold $1 cardboard turkeys to help Victory Mission.

The check was presented at Kum & Go's store No. 475 in Springfield, 3416 S. National Ave., which sold 6,091 cardboard turkeys -  the most of any single store.

Victory Mission will use the funding to provide holiday meals for needy individuals and to stock up its food pantry.

“We’re very grateful to Kum & Go and all their employees for undertaking this fundraiser, and people in the community for opening their hearts to help the needy," Jim Harriger, executive director of Springfield Victory Mission, said in the release. "In a time when the need is great and resources are limited, this gift will enable us to help individuals and families who are struggling daily to survive."

The Thanksgiving Turkeys Fundraiser has raised more than $70,000 for Springfield Victory Mission since it was started in 2005.[[In-content Ad]]
