KU Hospital reports patient's initial Ebola test negative

Posted online
The first lab tests of a Kansas City, Kan., man admitted to the University of Kansas Hospital on Monday indicate that he does not have Ebola, the hospital said Tuesday.

The man worked as a medical officer on a commercial vessel off Africa's west coast. He went to the hospital with a high fever and other symptoms and was isolated for tests, according to the Kansas City Star.

He will remain in isolation until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirm the tests in the next day or two.

“It’s pretty certain that he doesn’t have Ebola,” said Lee Norman, chief medical officer at KU Hospital.
