Kroger to buy Mariano's grocery chain for $800M

Kroger Co. has agreed to purchase Milwaukee-based Roundy's, the parent of the Mariano's grocery chain, for $800 million.

The Mariano's name will remain and no layoffs are planned, according to the companies.

The deal would add to Kroger's 2,600 stores in 34 states. It owns several chains, including Dillons.
