Kroger rumored to be considering Whole Foods takeover

Industry speculation that Kroger is mulling a takeover of Whole Foods Market sent stock in both companies rising on Thursday.

Both companies declined to comment on the rumors.

Kroger reportedly was an interested buyer in North Carolina's The Fresh Market, but that company sold in April to Apollo Global Management for $1.3 billion.
