Kroger and Albertsons to sell 400 stores to Piggly Wiggly parent company

Kroger and Albertsons are selling roughly 400 stores in an attempt to shore up antitrust approval for the companies' planned merger.

C&S Wholesale Grocers, the parent company of Piggly Wiggly and Grand Union, is buying the stores for $1.9 billion.

Kroger has a pending deal to buy Albertsons for nearly $25 billion.
