The Kroenke Group of Columbia has partnered with Kansas City-based commercial real estate management and development firm Lane4 Property Group Inc. to purchase two well known, but largely vacant, retail centers in Overland Park, Kan.
The partners have purchased Metcalf South Mall and the 95 West Shopping Center – long-time home to a Kmart store – at the corner of 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue in the Kansas City suburb. The intersection is one of the busiest in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
The sellers are MD Management, whose organizers developed the mall in the mid-1960s. It was one of the first of its kind in the U.S., according to the Kansas City Business Journal. The deal does not include the Sears’ mall property, which is owned separately.
Kmart recently vacated the 95 West Shopping Center, which is just north of the mall. In all, the transaction includes more than 62 acres of land.
