Kraft plans $114M Columbia expansion

Kraft Foods is seeking a 75 percent property tax break for 10 years on a planned $114 million investment in equipment and infrastructure at its Columbia plant.

According to the Columbia Daily Tribune, the Columbia Board of Education and the Boone County Library Board yesterday approved their portions on the Chapter 100 Taxing District Review Panel that would allow the issuance of bonds for the business expansion.

The company, which has been in Columbia for 30 years, plans to add 25,000 square feet to its Oscar Mayer plant, as well as infrastructure improvements and new equipment.
