Kraft Heinz's Country Time Lemonade unit announced it will defend and pay for any fines children receive for operating lemonade stands.
The move was prompted by news out of Stapleton, Colorado, where three young brothers were told by police to shut down their stand that was raising money for Compassion International.
Denver police arrived after receiving complaints from several vendors at a nearby arts festival that the kids were undercutting their prices, according to Fox Business.
“We recently came across a story of a kid getting her lemonade stand shut down for legal reasons, which had to be an urban myth. After looking into it and seeing even more instances, we realized these weren’t myths, they were real stories,” Adam Butler, general manager for beverage and nuts for Kraft Heinz, told Fox Business.
