KPM CPAs & Advisors completed an audit of Greene County's finances and issued the highest possible opinion.
The county received an "unmodified" or "clean" audit report from KPM, according to a news release. That means the audit found no weaknesses or instances of regulatory noncompliance. The audit report, issued Dec. 6, covers Greene County’s 2021 finances.
“We are naturally very proud of our finance team and our employees who have once again demonstrated exceptional performance and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and the statutory requirements impacting county government,” Greene County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon said in the release.
An independent external audit is conducted annually. Greene County has received a clean report for more than two decades.
KPM worked with the Greene County auditor's office to review revenue reporting, contracts, invoices, internal controls and purchasing, according to the release. That's especially important, according to the auditor's office, as the county distributes federal grant dollars.
Greene County received $56.9 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds and currently is in the process of distributing them to area organizations.
