Koster sues STL man for running fake veterans charity

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has filed a civil lawsuit against a St. Louis-area man he says solicited donations for wounded veterans and then kept the money for himself.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports, Matthew Buckingham and his company, Veterans Aid From All Foreign Wars Inc., allegedly instructed female associates to sell raffle tickets in St. Louis-area bars that were said to help veterans, but no raffle ever occurred.

Buckingham also is accused of impersonating a wounded veteran in the scheme.
